Trainee Water Hygiene Technician - Wigan

Infinity specialises in a variety of property compliance, maintenance, and management solutions on behalf of Local Authorities, commercial partners and Housing Associations across the UK. Due to a significant increase in demand for our compliance services, Norse Infinity currently have an opportunity for a Trainee Water Hygiene Technician to join our well-equipped team based in Wigan.

The Role

Our trainee role will provide an excellent opportunity to develop within the industry alongside experienced Water Hygiene Technicians. You will be responsible for carrying out the professional functions of water hygiene, monitoring, control and management of Legionella while gathering crucial everyday experience when shadowing our senior staff.

Within this role you will assist in carrying out legionella risk assessments, tank inspections, TMV servicing, annual inspections and monthly temperature taking while assisting our strategic recommendations based on costing, grading, and prioritising as identified in the risk assessments.

Main duties will include:

  • To shadow an experienced water hygiene technician in his/her everyday duties.
  • Provide and include the raising of awareness of client’s responsibilities with regard to water hygiene and legionella.
  • Input survey data using software on a tablet.
  • Assist in carrying out legionella risk assessments, tank inspections, TMV servicing, annual inspections and monthly temperature taking.
  • Work within established communication systems to promote the free flow of information.
  • Liaise with client and staff from other disciplines in connection with legionella work.
  • This role requires frequent travel to other areas and sites as required around the UK.
  • Required to work away from home occasionally to support wider national teams on servicing contracts/clients requirements  (Accommodation Provided).
  • Fully understanding legislation surrounding legionella management.
  • Promote continuous improvement and deliver demonstrable high-quality products and services which embrace quality standards.

  • Familiar with relevant construction, health and safety legislation, and risks and hazards associated with asbestos would be desirable.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Possess a C&G 2 in Plumbing and Heating would be desirable.
  • Be prepared to undertake training and qualifications such as legionella & H&S
  • Full UK Driving Licence to meet travel requirements is essential.
