Senior Associate - Quantity Surveyor (Internal)

Up to £61,400 (Dependent on experience)
37 Hours per week

Main Responsibilities:
- Be, along with Associate Director, the technical lead for the QS service.
- Assist with the development of the QS team to ensure a high-quality service is provided
- Assist with QS resource assessments to review against the project programmes, to enable effective management of the peaks and troughs in workload.
- Where any QS project work is outsourced (either internally or externally) ensure that it is overseen and the work managed to ensure effective delivery of the service to our Clients
- Provide regular cost reports to project stakeholders, including internal leadership / management.
- Prepare project cost estimates and costs plans appropriate to the RIBA stage of a project, and in accordance with NRM2 (or subsequent update).
- Prepare high quality tender documentation using an agreed standard form of contract, such as JCT
- Undertake preliminary analysis of tenders, prepare cost breakdowns and initial cost profile.
- Assist the Contract Administrators in the preparation of Architects Instructions, evaluation of claims including extensions of time.
- Working within the multi-disciplinary team, advise on the economics of proposed designs at an early stage of a project, contributing to the final product.
- Provide professional QS advice to our clients, as required.
- Assist with the development and support members of the QS team, including those that are progressing through their APC.
- Assist in the project management of schemes, setting objectives, provide direction and advise on related matters including issuing progress reports and in post contract reviews.
- Prepare final accounts and agree with contractor, including verifying claims and dealing with audit procedures.
- Responsible for identifying new business opportunities.
- Fee earning at 85% and contribute to the achievement of the business plan objectives and targets.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying
- Chartered Member of the RICS
- Member of the Association of Project Managers (APM)
- Holds a current CSCS site card or is prepared to Immediately attain
- Experience in a similar or related role
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- Experience in the use of Cost X or similar QS software
- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
- Familiar with Construction H&S Legislation and associated Risks and Hazards
- Experience of using BCIS Online and NBS Building
- Project Management experience on a range of building works of differing sizes and types
