  • Location: Taw View, Civic Centre, North Walk, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1EE.
  • Salary: £27,955.20 per annum
  • Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday

South West Norse represents the highly successful joint venture partnership between Norse Group and Devon County Council, providing a range of facilities management and contract services across the South West. We are currently recruiting a Facilities Maintenance Assistant to join our fast-paced team at Taw View, Barnstaple on a full time basis to assist with general maintenance queries.

The Role:

For this role, you will be required to execute a diverse range of FM compliance services and maintenance duties across our portfolio sites, ranging from caretaking, building management, office equipment management and administrative duties in accordance with the relevant guidance and ACOP (Approved Code of Practice). We are therefore seeking an individual with a broad knowledge around maintenance and repair tasks. You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring Health and Safety guidelines, policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Assist with repairs and minor building maintenance tasks on a pre-planned and reactive basis, which may include the testing of emergency systems, e.g. emergency lighting, fire alarms etc. or completion of minor works/building maintenance tasks.
  • Liaise and collaborate with clients, contractors, and colleagues to ensure safe systems of working are adopted
  • General site maintenance duties including cleaning and hygiene services when required
  • Maintain equipment lists and ensure office equipment is in place and “fit for purpose”, and PAT tested on an annual basis.
  • Undertake regular safety checks and risk assessments in relation to the premises and review them on an ongoing basis.

Our Successful Candidate:

Whilst we are happy to provide ongoing support and training in the role, we are looking for you to have some previous experience across a building maintenance, caretaking or facilities management role. This will ideally include delivering a range of minor repairs and site maintenance duties. We will be looking for you to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a service delivery role
  • Ability to deliver a good level of customer service
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable engaging with members of the public
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to use your own initiative and work effectively under minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
  • Full UK Drivers Licence
