Exeter 

Up to £41,255.40

37 Hours per week

We are delighted to be able to recruit a new Estates Surveyor into the team on a full time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

South West Norse adopts modern working practices. We have a refreshed and modern open plan office on the outskirts of Exeter with very good access off the M5 corridor making for an easy commute. Equally we employ an agile and flexible working strategy allowing staff to work some days at home and flex their working patterns when required.

The Estates Surveyor will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of Estate Management and Valuation services to meet prescribed targets in accordance with all relevant policies, standards and legislation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Receive, review and clarity client instructions to ensure project teams are properly briefed and client expectations are accurate and properly managed
  • Undertake the calculation, management and communication of approved project costs and calculate project costs to meet customer or client requirements to recognised industry practice standards.
  • Provide contractual, professional, technical services and advice appropriate to the level of the role.
  • Assist in advising on legal matters related to the role, including risks and disputes such that implications of work are fully understood and communicated
  • Monitor contractors, stages, and progress of work, generate reports and management information for circulation and or communication.
  • Visit sites to provide advice and or monitor activity, provide relevant, timely reports to record site observations and provide advice as appropriate to the commission or activity.
  • Prepare reports as required by project deliverables such that relevant stakeholders are appraised of the relevant issues and risks.

Candidate Requirements: 

  • Professional membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and be working or prepared to work towards chartered status 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an Estates related discipline 
  • Holds a current site card or is prepared to immediately attain
  • Experience in a similar or related role 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Legal knowledge of landlord and tenant, compulsory purchase and compensation, and knowledge of property valuation techniques 
  • Familiar with relevant construction, health and safety legislation and the risks and hazards associated with asbestos
