NPS Leeds have an excellent opportunity to join the team as a Building Surveyor. Our building surveyors help to ensure efficient maintenance planning and manage planned and reactive building repair activities. You will know what to look for to ensure that building users are safe, repairs and refurbishments are effective and that our property portfolio is compliant with current and forthcoming legislation.
Main Responsibilities:
- Undertake projects in accordance with RICS standards.
- Provide technical and advisory guidance to clients and stakeholders and other technical team members.
- Ensure, contribute, lead and identify on the delivery of quality assured client focused projects and services to meet the agreed clients’ requirements.
- Advise senior managers of potential business streams and actively work in conjunction with the marketing plan.
- Promote a professional service on behalf of the Company to official representatives of external clients.
- Support the company in terms of client development.
- Prepare, specifications, drawings and carry out risk assessments for improvement, refurbishment and new building schemes.
- Prepare tender documents, undertake contract administration duties/ project management and site monitoring duties of relevant contracts ensuring compliance and quality control.
- Undertake site surveys in relation to condition / building surveying, schedules of condition, dilapidations, measured surveys and planned maintenance; defect analysis to include analytical investigation, research and preparation of technical reports.
- Participate in conservation projects to include investigation in relation to materials, repair processes, quality control and innovative methods of repair and analysis.
- Responsible for identifying new business opportunities.
- Fee earning at 90%, and contribute to the achievement of business plan objectives and targets.
- This role requires frequent travel to other offices and sites as required.
- Carry out duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
- Promote continuous improvement and deliver demonstrable high quality products and services which embrace quality standards.
- Demonstrate personal commitment to the Norse Way CSR strategy.
Candidate Requirements
- Professional membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or equivalent and be working to or prepared to work towards chartered status.
- HNC/HND or equivalent in a Building Maintenance related discipline.
- Current site card or be prepared to attain immediately.
- Experience in a similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of the Building Regulations and other construction and building surveying related legislation.
- An understanding of current construction, health and safety legislation and risks and hazards associated with asbestos.
