With Offices in Exeter and Ivybridge, South West Norse are dedicated to delivering professional services across a range of property management disciplines including; building surveying, architectural design, M & E engineering, project management and estate management.

To support the development of South West Norse project portfolio, we are currently looking to recruit an additional Building Surveyor.

The Role:

Due to the diverse nature of our business, you will have the opportunity to get involved with a range of different projects, undertaking a number of duties including:

  • Overseeing complex refurbishment & maintenance projects up to a value of £1 million, working for large public sector clients with a continuous stream of repeat business.
  • Producing your own design & technical drawings, preparing tender documents, undertaking contract administration duties/project management and site monitoring duties of relevant contracts ensuring compliance and quality control.
  • Leading quality assurance across projects and services, ensuring client needs are met and relevant legislation adhered to.
  • Undertaking site surveys in relation to condition/building surveying, schedules of condition, dilapidations, measured surveys and planned maintenance; defect analysis to include analytical investigation, research and preparation of technical reports
  • Collating and presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders, offering solutions and recommendations where required.

Our Successful Candidate:

Whilst we are ideally looking for a more experienced Building Surveyor with at least 3-4 years experience, we are also dedicated to offering career development opportunities for the right candidate. So would also welcome applications from more junior or graduate surveyors. You will demonstrate your suitability through:

  • Ideally you will hold (or be working towards) a Professional Chartered Membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), however we would be keen to support someone through this process so this is not essential.
  • Experience in the design, contract administration & project management of construction projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Knowledge of the Building Regulations, Health & Safety and other relevant construction and building surveying related legislation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate with all levels of internal and external parties.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal support or within a large multi-disciplinary team
  • A strong design background and to be proficient in AutoCAD.
