Architectural Technician / Technologist

Exeter, Devon

£23,000 - £33000 (Dependent on experience

37 Hours per week (working 9-5 with flexible working arrangements)

We are a collaborative practice with a broad range of experience, providing opportunities to contribute meaningfully to project delivery across a wide range of RIBA Stages. South West Norse is also committed to supporting emerging talent, working closely with apprentices and work‑placement students. 

Our work is primarily focussed on the education sector—spanning early years, primary and secondary schools, further and higher education, and SEND provision. Alongside this, we deliver a diverse range of projects across other commercial sectors for public and private clients offering a varied, stimulating, and rewarding workload.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of architectural design services by contributing to technical outputs across multiple project stages.
  • Produce accurate and high‑quality technical drawings, specifications, and construction information in line with project requirements.
  • Prepare and submit Planning and Building Control applications, ensuring all statutory approvals are obtained in a timely manner.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proficient in Revit (essential) with working knowledge of Autodesk 2D drafting software.
  • Experience using the NBS Chorus specification platform is desirable Strong design, technical, and construction understanding, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively in project work.
  • Good awareness of UK Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and general construction methods.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a design team, contributing positively to shared deadlines and project outcomes.
  • Solid technical detailing skills relevant to both new‑build and existing‑building projects.
  • A proactive and positive approach, with enthusiasm for learning, problem‑solving, and working as part of a team.
  • Working toward CIAT or an equivalent professional accreditation is desirable, with training and funding support available to assist progression.
