Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Norwich
£51,515.56 to £52,469.54
40 hours per week
Monday to Friday
Norfolk Partnership Laboratory (NPL) provide an experienced testing and consultancy service to the construction industry, performing a wide range of tests both onsite and at the laboratory, offering specialist advice to our clients. We are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team based at County Hall, Norwich.
*A full UK Driving licence is requried for this role*
The Role
A mix of site and office-based work centred around the design, implementation and delivery of geotechnical and geo-environmental site investigations to Clients as part of the Geotechnical Department based in Norwich. The successful candidate will join the existing team and help to offer clients up to date techniques and processes ensuring the Geotechnical Department are giving informed and professional advice.
Main Responsibilities
- Planning and conducting site investigations and supervising field crews, typically on a bespoke basis.
- Reviewing anticipated site conditions as required to support the site investigations and development of ground models.
- Conducting soil and rock logging and sampling both in the field and the laboratory.
- Entering data into geotechnical software to produce geotechnical logs and other associated outputs.
- Preparing laboratory test schedules.
- Analysing site and laboratory data and preparing factual and interpretative reports.
- Supporting the Lead Geotechnical Engineer in developing proposals and determining costs and schedules for site investigations.
- Consulting with Clients and other laboratory team members to ensure tasks are completed on time and within identified budgets.
- Preparing CAD drawings as needed to support the investigations and reporting.
- Managing allocated project staff as required and mentoring colleagues as appropriate.
- Ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with latest Health and Safety regulations and legislation.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or similar relevant subject
- Current CSCS card or be prepared to immediately obtain.
- Minimum five years experience in geotechnical/geo-environmental engineering
- Experience in producing and reviewing factual and interpretative reports.
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Able to follow defined guidance thoroughly to ensure compliance with standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work to own initiative, as an individual or as part of a team
- Flexible in approach to delivering work to meet clients needs
- Confident liaising with colleagues and stakeholders across all levels.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage your own workload.
